  I was in that same position working in the oil patch! After years of suffering  and with a lot of experimentation I discovered what I now offer you as a solution; Moccasins!
Quite simply; hands down, they are the answer to all of the problems mentioned!
  Buy a lower priced regular pair of Certified felt pack boots without the bulk and high negative temperature rating.
Take the liner out of your boot, put it inside the moccasin and replace both back inside your boot! That's it!
When your boots are wet or dirty you can easily pull the moccasin/liner out and neatly wear them around the office/home! They are especially nice for folks in the farm and ranch setting and also very nice for folks to use as hunting gear without the boots! (lightweight and very quiet)
  History
My wife bought me a pair of pricey/dressy moccasins as a gift and I tested them out while hunting! After less than 3 hours, they both had several major holes in the soles and were rendered absolute useless garbage.   That's when I decided to start making moccasins myself using heavy 6 ounce top quality material and caring quality craftsmanship without the useless fancy frills but instead with practical elegance, reliable functionality and longevity in mind!
  I personally wore mine for years at work, at home and while hunting and not once did I have cold or wet feet again! (I waterproofed mine because I used them for hunting but would recommend doing it for all conditions as it preserves the leather as well) Also, not once did I dry out or replace my felt liners again! They still allowed the Safety Certification to remain in force and outlasted several pairs of the commercially made boots. As a special bonus, they also helped me keep the wild meat on the table!
   I introduced them to my work associates to test out and everyone reported the same positive test results!
Testimony: I was working along side a co-worker in a cold compressor building trying to warm up an engine to get it started at -40 degrees. His feet were "frozen" (as he put it) and mine were "toasty warm" (as I put it) with both of us wearing the exact same brand of Sorel boots. He didn't believe me so I took off my feltpack and handed it to him to feel inside. In absolute shock and utter amazement, he said "you must have built-in foot warmers" and I agreed with him and proved it by pulling the felt/moccasin combo out of my boot to show him! Guess what his Christmas present was that year???? 
 Likewise, with the surveyors who were replacing their wet felts with dry ones multiple times every day, drying them repeatedly with the truck heater as they worked and then drying them all out every night after work! I gave them each a test pair to try out! The result: They called me their "Savior" and each ordered 2 additional pairs even though the 1 pair would have likely lasted them a lifetime!
